CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brian Bonnell allowed one run on five hits with three strikeouts and UNLV eliminated North Dakota State from the NCAA Corvallis regional with a 2-1 victory Saturday.
The Rebels (36-24) got all the runs they needed in the top of the first on a two-run homer by Morgan Stotts that followed a leadoff single from TJ Stotts.
Bonnell (7-5) and the UNLV defense took the game over from there. After giving up a run in the bottom of the first, Bonnell settled in and let his defense go to work as the Rebels turned four double plays through seven innings. UNLV closer Jonathan Torres worked the final two innings for his ninth save.
The only run for North Dakota State (25-26) came on a sacrifice by Kyle Kleinendorst in the bottom of the first inning.
Parker Trewin (7-3) allowed two runs and four hits over 7 1/3 innings.
