RENO, Nev. – Two dunks by University of Nevada senior point guard Deonte Burton have been nominated for the fifth annual College Dunk of the Year Tournament, hosted by The Hoops Manifesto. The dunks occurred at UNLV and at Boise State. The dunk at BSU was number one on ESPN’s top 10 Plays of the Day and the dunk at UNLV was second.

Burton is the only player to have two dunks in the tournament. There is however another Deonte Burton in the field of 16 as Marquette’s Deonte Burton is also in the tournament.

The tournament matches 16 of the best dunks from this past season in a March Madness style tournament. Each round will be voted on for a week until the champion dunk has been determined. To vote for Burton follow this link

The dunk at Boise State is matched against Talladega College’s Brandon Peters. The UNLV dunk is paired against Raphiael Putney of UMASS.

Former Nevada forward and teammate of Burton, Olek Czyz won the title in 2009-10.
