SPANISH SPRINGS - Spanish Springs senior Lyndsey Anderson has been named the Gatorade State Volleyball Player of the Year.

Anderson led the Cougars to the State Championship this season. She's a two-time High Desert League Player of the Year and was also voted the Northern Player of the Year.

She's the first Spanish Springs athlete to earn this honor in volleyball. Former Cougars pitchers Karlyn Jones and Mallary Darby each won it in softball. Darby won the award twice.

Anderson has already signed to play collegiately at Nevada beginning next Fall.
