Reno's Wieland Gets First Hit, Sets Career-High in Loss

SAN DIEGO - Reno's Joe Wieland accomplished to firsts on Monday night in San Diego.

Wieland struck out a career-high eight batters in the Padres' 8-3 loss to the Brewers. He gave up five runs in five innings; three of them earned. Wieland (0-4) took the loss. His ERA is now 4.91.

The Bishop Manogue grad also got his first major league hit with a single in the third inning.
