MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish has been scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday night at Minnesota because of neck stiffness.
Darvish reported stiffness when he woke up and things didn't improve enough. There was no immediate announcement by the team on who would start in Darvish's place against the Twins.
The symptoms for Darvish were similar to what he experienced in had in spring training, when he didn't pitch for nearly three weeks before his season debut April 6. He started the season on the 15-day disabled list.
The Rangers said Darvish would undergo a precautionary MRI later Tuesday.
Darvish is 4-2 with a 2.35 ERA in nine starts, with 71 strikeouts.
