PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) - Ian Poulter tends to play some of his best golf on Sunday in a major. Now if he can just figure out the opening 54 holes.

Poulter is best known for his clutch putting in the Ryder Cup. He has had three top-3 finishes in the majors, usually when he puts together a strong closing round. It's just never good enough. In those three chances, the Englishman has started no closer than six shots of the lead.

His latest close call was at the British Open, when he played a four-hole stretch in 5-under around the turn and shot 67. He wound up four shots behind.

Poulter says he would love to take a 10-shot lead into the final round in the PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
