AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Nevada track and field team’s 4x100 relay squad placed 21st overall at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Oregon Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolf Pack quartet of Samantha Calhoun, Angelica Earls, Tanisha Hawkins, and Kashae Knox clocked in at 45:30 to take sixth place in heat three of the prelims. The time placed Nevada 21st in the field of 24 participants. The top eight times advance to the finals on Saturday.

The top eight times include Texas A&M (42.84), UCF (43.15), LSU (43.44), Clemson (43.70), Oregon (43.73), Kansas (44.32), Texas (44.54), and USC (44.57).

It was the first time in the program’s history that a Nevada relay team competed at the NCAA Championships. The last time the Wolf Pack sent a runner to the NCAA’s was six years ago, where senior Kali Baker represented Nevada in the 800-meter race. Baker just missed qualifying for the finals by .05 seconds.
