RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's basketball team held its annual Starting Five Dinner at the Silver Legacy Resort & Casino tonight and handed out the team awards for the 2013-14 season. The Wolf Pack posted a 15-17 overall mark and tied for third in the Mountain West with a 10-8 conference mark.

First-team All-MW selection Deonte Burton earned two honors, MVP and the team’s Rock Award. The Rock Award is annually presented to the player who represents the identity and foundation of the team, as chosen by the coaches and team. Burton was named the MVP for the third consecutive season. He is also the first player to receive the Rock Award three times; 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Burton averaged a team-high 20.1 points and 4.4 assists per game. His 2,102 career points ranks second in school history and ranks in the top five in six other categories. The Los Angeles senior started all 130 games of his career.

Senior guard Jerry Evans, Jr. earned the team’s Best Defender Award. In addition to drawing the opponents top scorer he scored 12.3 points and grabbed 6.2 rebounds per game. The Los Angeles native scored 985 points during his career and started 107-of-126 games played.

Sophomore Marqueze Coleman was named the Sixth Man Award recipient. Coleman missed five games as a result of eye surgery but averaged six points and 2.1 rebounds in 17.7 minutes primarily off the bench for the Wolf Pack.

Two newcomers grabbed a pair of honors as freshman D.J. Fenner earned the Most Improved Award and sophomore Lucas Stivrins received the Most Inspirational Award. Fenner was one of four players to play in all 32 games and averaged 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in 14.2 minutes off the Pack bench. Stivrins, a junior college transfer, saw action in 18 games and made two starts in his first season in the Silver & Blue.
