Nevada's Matthews Named to Hornung Award Honor Roll
Louisville, Ky. Nevada's Rishard Matthews was named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll for his performance in the 45-38 win over Fresno State.

Louisville, Ky. (Monday, October 24, 2011) - Robert Woods (USC), Rishard Matthews (Nevada) and David Amerson (NC State) were named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll. The weekly recognition honors versatile, single-game performances around the nation by FBS student-athletes.
The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is awarded annually to the most versatile player in major college football. Fans now can vote online at www.votepaulhornung.com to help select finalists for the 2011 award. Woods, Matthews and Amerson are among 58 players eligible for fan voting on the Facebook page powered by Texas Roadhouse and the Louisville Sport Commission.
Matthews, a wide receiver / return specialist for the Wolf Pack, finished the weekend with 265 all-purpose yards, including his first punt return for a touchdown this season. A wide receiver, Woods lined up at numerous spots in the Trojans' offense and was a difference maker in the win over Hornung's alma mater, Notre Dame, in South Bend. Amerson, who leads the country in interceptions, tied the NC State record for picks in a season with eight. The multi-talented Amerson also handled a kickoff return for the first time this season and tallied six tackles.
Each player was named to the Paul Hornung Weekly Honor Roll for the first time.
Week Seven Selections to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll
* NC State's David Amerson had two interceptions, including one returned for a 12-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, a 25-yard kickoff return and six tackles in a 28-14 win over Virginia on Oct. 22.
* Nevada's Rishard Matthews had seven receptions for 148 yards, one kick return for 25 yards, and two punt returns for 92 yards including one for 86 yards and a touchdown in a 45-38 win over Fresno State on Oct. 22. He finished the game with 265 all-purpose yards.
* USC's Robert Woods had one rush for 5 yards, 12 receptions for 119 yards, two receiving touchdowns, two punt returns for 29 yards, and one kickoff return for 20 yards in the 31-17 win against Notre Dame on Oct. 22.
