Nevada's Gramolini Named WAC Track Athlete of the Week

DENVER – Nevada’s Mariah Gramolini and Utah State’s Sonia Grabowska have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 23-29.

Gramolini, a sophomore from Stagecoach, Nev. (Silver Stage HS), won the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.38 at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. over the weekend. Gramolini’s time currently leads the WAC and moves her into fifth place on Nevada’s outdoor top-ten list in the event.

Grabowska, a senior from Warsaw, Poland (VIII Lo Wtadystaw IV), won the pole vault at the BYU Robison Invitational this past weekend, tying her season-best height of 13 feet, 06.25 inches (4.12 meters). Her mark is currently ranked first in the WAC and 27th in the nation in the event so far this season.

Other track nominees included: Shanelle Stephens, Fresno State; Cait Rowland, Idaho; LaSasha Aldredge, New Mexico State; and Stephanie Burt, Utah State.

Other field nominees included: Meagan McKee, Fresno State; Kristine Leonard, Idaho; Danielle Stallworth, Nevada; and Mareka Clark, New Mexico State.
