Austin Byler continued his hot hitting streak by delivering a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give the University of Nevada baseball team a 7-6 victory over Holy Cross in its series finale on Sunday.

The walk-off victory for the Wolf Pack (8-4) completed the series sweep over the Crusaders, who fell to 1-6 with the loss. Byler’s walk off single brought him to 8-for-11 in the series with 13 RBI and 5 runs scored.

Alex Maldonado led off the game for the Crusaders with a single and later scored, but Nevada responded with five runs in the bottom of the first. Kewby Meyer started the scoring by driving home Jay Anderson with a single after Anderson led off the inning with a walk. Later in the inning, Brett Jones cleared the bases with a three-run double to the left center field gap. Jones scored on the next play when Klein drove him home for his first RBI of the day.

Holy Cross tacked on two runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3, until Brooks Klein hit a solo home run, his first of the season, over the right field fence to put the Pack up by three.

The Crusaders responded with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie the game, until Byler delivered the walk-off single in the ninth.

Michael Fain earned the win, his second of the season, in two-thirds of a scoreless inning, while Conor Moynihan took the loss for the Crusaders.

The Wolf Pack is in action again on Tuesday when it travels to Stockton, Calif. to battle the Pacific Tigers at 6 p.m.
