Nevada Soccer Advances to Conference Semifinals

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Sixth-seeded Nevada earned a 1-0 victory over No. 3 seed Boise State on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Mountain West Women's Soccer Championship at SDSU Sports Deck. With the win, the Wolf Pack advance to the semifinals where they will face second-seeded New Mexico.

The game was a scoreless event until the 85th minute when Nevada's Daisha Jones-Oglesby had a run-out, beat her defender and put her shot into the upper part of the net to give the Wolf Pack the late lead. For Jones-Oglesby, the goal was her first of the season.

Trailing 1-0 with just over five minutes left in the second half, the Broncos attempted a comeback, but managed just one shot, which was stopped by Nevada goalkeeper Dana Moreno, and the Wolf Pack notched the upset.

The first half featured just four shots overall, with each team logging two apiece. In the second half, the pace picked up with Boise State outshooting Nevada, 8-7. For the game, the Broncos finished with a 10-9 edge in shots and a 6-5 lead in shots on goal.

The Wolf Pack will now meet the Lobos in the Friday's semifinals. First tap is set for 4 p.m. PT at SDSU Sports Deck.
