SEATTLE - Reno's Scott Cousins was claimed off of waivers by the Mariners on Tuesday.

He had been claimed by the Blue Jays on October 17th, but was designated for assignment when the 40-man roster filled up as players came off the disabled list.

Cousins batted just .163 in 53 games with the Marlins last season. He was 14-for-86 at the plate, with one home run, four doubles and three RBI.

He was much better in Triple-A, batting .296 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBI.

Cousins is a graduate of North Valleys high school.
