JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Gary Woodland shot a 7-under 64 to tie for the clubhouse lead at The Barclays. Even better, he finished before dark.

Woodland birdied four of his last five holes Friday at Liberty National to join Webb Simpson (66) at 9-under 133 in the rain-delayed opener of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Matt Kuchar also took advantage of the calm conditions at twilight to finish his short day atop the leaderboard at 10-under par. He still had five holes remaining.

Only 18 players from the afternoon groups managed to finish. The rest return Saturday morning to finish.

That includes Tiger Woods, who couldn't get off the course fast enough. Woods had three early birdies until dropping three shots in a five-hole span. He was five shots behind Kuchar.
