RENO - Wolf Pack center A.J. West has not yet been cleared by the NCAA to play at Nevada, pending a decision on his eligibility.
The University would not go into details about the issue, but it does not involve his academic eligibility. It's related to his athletic competition after he finished high school and before his enrollment in college.
'I'm hopeful for a positive outcome on this for A.J. and our team," head coach David Carter said in a press release. "We have completed all of our due diligence with the NCAA and will remain patient as this process runs its course."
The NCAA is expected to hand down their ruling at some point later this month.
The 6-9, 230 pound West averaged 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks per game last season as a sophomore at Monroe College in New York.
