MONACO (AP) - The IAAF has ratified the 110-meter hurdles world record set by Olympic champion Aries Merritt of the United States.
After winning the 110 hurdles at the London Olympics, Merritt set a world record of 12.80 seconds at the Van Damme Memorial in Brussels in September.
The previous record of 12.87 was set by Cuban hurdler Dayron Robles in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in June 2008.
