RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head baseball coach Jay Johnson announced the signing of Ryan Howell to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Wolf Pack in 2015. A utility player from Heyward, Calif., Howell is currently a sophomore at Chabot College (Calif.) for head coach Steve Friend.
“We are very excited about Ryan joining us,” Johnson said. “He is one of the top junior college hitters in the country this year and will transition well here with his power and solid hitting skills. Ryan is a great addition to our program.”
The 6-2, 210-pound right-handed hitter is currently batting .317 with 40 runs scored, 13 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 81 total bases, 39 RBI and a .643 slugging percentage. Howell tops the Coast Golden Gate conference in home runs, slugging percentage and is tied for first in RBI while ranking second in doubles and total bases.
The Gladiators are 27-7 overall and lead the Coast Golden Gate conference with a 21-1 record.
