WASHINGTON (AP) - San Francisco Giants second baseman Freddy
Sanchez will have back surgery and miss the entire season.
Manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Sanchez will have a discectomy next week.
Sanchez has been injured frequently since joining the Giants in 2009 and been trying to recover from shoulder surgery last August. He injured his lower back in a rehab game last month.
The 34-year-old three-time All-Star and 2006 NL batting champion is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season.
