SEATTLE - Galena high school forward EJ Poulsen has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Seattle Pacific.

The 6-foot-9 Poulsen averaged 10.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots per game last season. He was also named to the All-Sierra League first team and the All-Region team, helping the Grizzlies finish with a 24-6 record.

"Our coaching staff is excited that EJ has decided to attend Seattle Pacific University,” said Falcons head coach Ryan Looney in a press release. “He will have an opportunity to develop into a great player at our level."

Poulsen improved in every category between his junior and senior seasons at Galena. He averaged 6 points and 8 rebounds in 2011-2012.

“EJ has great size and can really rebound," added coach Looney. "We now have enough post depth to put ourselves in a position to have another great season.”

SPU finished last season with a 27-4 overall record. That tied the school record for single-season victories and marked the best winning percentage in school history at 87.1%. Seattle Pacific also finished ranked second overall in the country among NCAA Division II teams.
