Former A's Star to Join Aces on Rehab Assignment

RENO - Former Oakland A's third baseman Eric Chavez will begin a rehabilitation assignment in Reno next week.

Jack Magruder, of Fox Sports Arizona, reports that Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson has confirmed the move.

Chavez has been on the disabled list since May 31st with a right oblique strain. He's batting .325 with 7 home runs and 25 RBI in 38 games this season. Chavez has hit 255 home runs during his 15-year Major League career.

He is a six-time Gold Glove winner. He also won the 2002 Silver Slugger Award.
