University of Nevada freshman closer Michael Fain is one of 51 players named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award mid-season watch list. The ninth annual award is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA I baseball.
Fain, from Clovis, Calif., leads the Mountain West and ranks 19th nationally with nine saves on the season. His four saves in MW play are tied for first in the conference. In 17 of his team-high 18 appearances he has finished the game which also tops the conference. Currently he is 2-2 with a 6.23 ERA.
The nine saves are tied for the fourth best season in Nevada history and are tied for seventh on the Pack’s career list.
