LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 34-year-old Australian businessman says he wants to build an extreme sports venue offering motocross, surfing and maybe even snowboarding in the shadow of the Las Vegas Strip.
Electrical engineer Josh Kearney, of Vegas Extreme LLC, tells the Las Vegas Sun that he's hoping for $50 million in financing and a piece of land for the project.
He'll also need Clark County Commission approval.
The idea would be for the "Vegas Extreme" amusement park to offer wakeboarding, zip lines and whitewater rafting at a 40-acre amusement park featuring a 7-acre lake, a white sand beach and cabanas fashioned from repurposed shipping containers.
Kearney says construction could take as little as a year.
