Reno - Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy will join the Reno Aces this weekend on a rehab assignment. He's scheduled to make a start for them on Sunday.

Kyndra de St. Aubin, a reporter of Arizona Sports 620, reports that McCarthy could make two appearances with Reno before re-joining the Diamondbacks.

McCarthy has been on the disabled list since May 31st with shoulder inflammation. He is 2-4 with a 5.00 ERA in 11 starts with Arizona this season. He was acquired in a trade with Oakland during the offseason.

McCarthy made national news last year, suffering a skull fracture after being hit in the head by a line drive.
