The Reno Bighorns defeated the Idaho Stampede 111-103 in a pre-season game in Winnemucca, Nev. in front of a sellout crowd at Lowry High School.
Sacramento Kings assignee Tyler Honeycutt led the Bighorns with 24 points and eight rebounds. Durrell Summers had a game-high 32 points for the Stampede, shooting 13 of 22 from the field.
Bighorns guard Garrett Temple dished out six assists. Returning Bighorns player Marcus Landry played a team-high 33 minutes, scoring 11 points and grabbing six rebounds.
The Bighorns led the whole game, shooting a blistering 52% from the field. The ‘Horns got off to a hot start, scoring 41 points in the first quarter.
Garrett Green grabbed nine rebounds for the Stampede and Hank Thorns led the team with four assists.
The game was a final tune up for both teams before the start of the regular D-League season. The Bighorns and Stampede were able to play in Winnemucca thanks to the Winnemucca Century Club and the hard work of Lowry Boys Basketball coach, Chad Peters.
The Bighorns open their fifth season in Reno on Friday, November 30th at 7 p.m. against the Santa Cruz Warriors. Opening Weekend continues on Sunday, December 2nd at 3 p.m. Season tickets and group tickets are on sale today. For more information, fans can call 775-853-8220.
