Bighorns Acquire Sundiata Gaines and Release Tajaun Porter

RENO, Nev. — The Reno Bighorns have acquired guard, Sundiata Gaines from the Springfield Armor. The Armor will receive Reno’s 2014 3rd round pick and the returning player rights to Samardo Samuels. Reno has also released point guard Tajaun Porter.

Recently, Gaines, a 6-1 point guard, spent two months with Beşiktaş of Turkey before going to the Austin Toros on January 29, 2014. He then was traded to Springfield Armor on January 31, 2014. He did not play any games with Springfield. With Beşiktaş of Turkey, he averaged 10.7 points, 3.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds per game.

Gaines also has NBA experience from 2010-2012 with the Jazz, Timberwolves, Raptors and Nets. In his two years of NBA play he averaged 4.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists, in 113 games played.

Porter spent two seasons with the Bighorns. During the 2013-14 season, he averaged 11.2 points, 2.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 33 games played. Porter recorded his best game on December 20, 2014 with 32 points and 8 rebounds against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
