RENO, NEV, Dec. 18, 2012 — The Reno Bighorns today acquired center Jerome Jordan via trade with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Jordan (7-0, 253) was drafted in the second round (44th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. He was then traded to the New York Knicks. Jordan played 21 games with the Knicks during the 2011-12 season, where he averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game.
In return for Jordan, the Bighorns traded center Vernon Maclin and their second round draft pick in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft.
“We are excited to have Jerome,” said Bighorns coach Paul Mokeski. “He is a long, athletic big man, who played in the D-League last year for Erie and averaged 18 points and nine rebounds.”
Jordan played collegiately at Tulsa. He is Conference USA’s all-time blocks leader, as well as the only player in conference history to have 800 rebounds and 300 blocks.
The Bighorns also acquired forward Garrett Green from the available player pool.
Green (6-11, 240) a rookie out of San Diego State, played in five games with the Idaho Stampede this season, before being waived. He averaged 2.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 6.8 minutes of action. As a senior at SDSU, Green averaged 6.0 points and 4.6 rebounds and 19.3 minutes per game.
Jordan and Green are expected to be with the Bighorns when they travel to Rio Grande Valley to face the Vipers on Thursday.
