Battery Charge Dropped Against Jonathon Amaya

MIAMI - Prosecutors have dropped a battery charge against former Wolf Pack safety Jonathon Amaya.

He was arrested back on November 26th, accused of trying to choke his taxi driver, Jonathan Vunge, during a dispute.

Vunge told police Amaya was upset after being denied a ride that was deemed too far away from Miami Beach’s Club Bamboo. He claims that Amaya got agitated, began yelling and grabbed his neck from the back seat.

Amaya's attorney had denied the claims, calling the case a complete fabrication.

“Jonathon Amaya never laid a hand on this man, never touched him, never threatened him,” criminal defense attorney Edward O’Donnell told the Miami Herald. “When a full investigation is made, we believe charges will be dropped.”

He is in his third season in the NFL, and his second with the Miami Dolphins.
