Andretti Autosport has signed E.J. Viso to drive a fourth car for the IndyCar team this season.
Viso will drive the No. 5 Team Venezuela PDVSA Chevrolet as a teammate to defending IndyCar champion Ryan Hunter-Reay, James Hinchcliffe and Marco Andretti.
The No. 5 car is a joint effort between HVM Racing and Andretti, and it pushes the Andretti organization back to its traditional four-car, full-time lineup.
The deal announced Thursday allows HVM Racing to continue its participation in IndyCar in anticipation of a potential return to the series in 2014. The Keith Wiggins-owned HVM team was not planning on racing this season in IndyCar.
Viso is entering his sixth season in IndyCar. He has 16 career top-10 finishes.
