Aces' Jacobs Named Diamondbacks' Minor League Player of the Month

RENO, Nev.— The Arizona Diamondbacks have named Reno Aces infielder Mike Jacobs the organization’s Player of the Month for May, the Diamondbacks announced today.

Jacobs set an Aces record for RBI in a month with 34, which tied him for second in all of minor league baseball during May. Jacobs also hit .345 during the month, and had 14 doubles, 7 home runs, and 23 runs scored in 28 games.

Jacobs is currently leading the Pacific Coast League in hits (77), doubles (24), extra-base hits (34), and total bases (131). He’s also second in batting average (.365) and RBI (49).

The Diamondbacks also announced that RHP Matt Stites was named Reno’s pitcher of the month. Since making his Triple-A debut on May 6, Stites has gone 8-for-8 in save opportunities, and has yet to allow an earned run while striking out 10 batters in 10 1/3 innings.
