LONDON (AP) - Amateur boxing association chief C.K. Wu of Taiwan has notified IOC President Jacques Rogge he will be a candidate to succeed him as head of the Olympic body.

An official with knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that Wu met with Rogge in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because Wu hasn't officially announced his decision.

Wu, a 66-year-old architect, plans to declare his candidacy at a news conference in Taipei next Thursday.

He becomes the third candidate to succeed Rogge, who steps down in September after 12 years as president of the International Olympic committee. The others are IOC Vice Presidents Thomas Bach of Germany and Ng Ser Miang of Singapore.
