LOUISVILLE, Ky. - David Padgett has joined the Louisville Men's Basketball staff.
Padgett will begin his coaching career as the team's assistant strength coach.
”He'll start near the bottom as an assistant strength coach, where he'll learn all facets of what it takes to be a college basketball coach,” head coach Rick Pitino told kypost.com.
Padgett was a McDonald's All-American as a senior at Reno High School. He originally signed with Kansas out of high school, playing one year for the Jayhawks. He then transferred to Louisville where he became an All-Big East center/forward.
Padgett was also an Associated Press honorable mention All-American his senior season, when he averaged 11 points and five rebounds per game for the nationally-ranked Cardinals.
He played in the NBA Summer League with both the Trail Blazers and the Heat. He spent the last two years playing professional basketball in Spain.
