PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Jesper Parnevik believes he can put off back surgery and hopes to be able to play golf again.
One day after telling a Swedish tabloid that he might not be able to play anymore because of a broken vertebrae, Parnevik said Wednesday evening that he is meeting with a Michigan specialist that offered far more optimism.
Parnevik says the good news is that he finally has discovered what has been causing him so much pain. The bad news? He had no idea it was a broken vertebrae.
The five-time PGA Tour winner says he likely will take at least two months off for exercise and rest and hopes to return this year.
