DENVER – Nevada’s Margaret Doolittle and Boise State’s Amanda Burnett were named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week, respectively, for Jan. 25-31.

Doolittle, a senior from Sacramento, Calif. (C.K. McClatchy HS), won all three individual events she competed in during a dual meet against Seattle last Saturday.

Doolittle opened the meet by swimming the second leg of the 400-yard medley relay that won with a time of 3:55.85. She then swam the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:04.39, followed by a 24.65 in the 50 free and a 58.52 in the 100 fly, setting a season-best in the final event.

Burnett, a junior from Glendale, Ariz. (Mountain Ridge HS), won both diving events in a dual meet against New Mexico State last week. She scored 217.35 points on the 1-meter and 215.48 on the 3-meter, coming up just shy of her personal bests set the previous week.

Other swimmers nominated: Morgan McLain, Boise State; Maria Spies, New Mexico State; and Heather Denman, San Jose State.
