PHOENIX - Former Wolf Pack pitcher Chad Qualls has agreed to a one-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Qualls will earn $4.185 million next season. The two sides agreed to the deal to avoid salary arbitration.

Qualls became the D'Backs closer last season, picking up a career-high 24 saves in 29 opportunities. He finished 2-2, with a 3.63 ERA in 51 appearances.

He is making a quick recovery from a late-season surgery. Qualls dislocated his left kneecap during a game on August 30th. He is expected to be ready to go by opening day.
