NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans Saints defensive end Bobby McCray has issued a written apology concerning comments he made on a social networking Web site about the officer that arrested him after a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
In the statement, released Wednesday afternoon by the EAG sports
management agency in California, McCray says he respects New
Orleans police and regrets that private messages about his arrest were unintentionally posted on Twitter. The comments included a reference to the officer being a "short guy with a Napoleon complex." Another comment stated McCray was pulled over for "DWP," or "Driving with pizza."
McCray was booked with driving while intoxicated and other charges.
