SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Joe Pavelski scored once in regulation and the only goal in the shootout to give the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday night.
Devin Setoguchi also scored for the Sharks, who won their fifth straight.
Shane Doan and Matthew Lombardi scored for the Coyotes, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
Phoenix goalie Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 36 shots, including all 19 he faced in the third period.
San Jose goalie Evgeni Nabokov made 31 saves.
Coyotes' Keith Yandle hit the crossbar during a power play in overtime.
Setoguchi, who has two goals and an assist in his last five games after not recording a point in his previous 10, put in a rebound shot from Frazer McLaren to give San Jose a 1-0 lead less three minutes into the game.
Pavelski made it 2-0 with 14:43 remaining in the second period. He stole a pass intended for Robert Lang during a Coyotes' power play, outskated everybody to the net and beat Bryzgalov to the upper left corner.
Lombardi redirected Ed Jovanovski's shot into the net to put Phoenix on the scoreboard midway through the second period. Martin Hanzal set up Jovanovski with a nice backhanded pass after Petr Prucha won it along the boards.
Doan scored his 10th goal of the season, and the third in his last five games, late in the second period to tie the game at 2-all. He was in perfect position to knock in Scottie Upshall's rebound off Nabokov's pads.
