Diego Hurtado's run at the U.S. Boxing Championships came to an end in on Wednesday afternoon. The Reno boxer lost to defending champion Luis Yanez in the light flyweight semifinals.
The match went the distance, with Yanez winning by decision 14-8. It was Hurtado's 4th fight in four days.
Despite the loss, Hurtado still qualified for the Olympic Boxing Trials held in August. He's one of eight fighters vying for a spot on the team in the 106 pound weight class. Hurtado was an alternate for the 2004 Summer Games.
