Report: Bowden To Announce Retirement On Tuesday

TALLAHASSEE -- Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden will announce his retirement at a press conference on Tuesday morning, according to ESPN.

Bowden has amassed 388 career wins in 34 seasons. Only Penn State's Joe Paterno has more coaching victories.

The ESPN report says Bowden was given two options: come back to Florida State next season as an ambassador to the program; a role where he would have little input on day-to-day operations; or retire after Florida State's bowl game.

The report also indicates offensive coordinator Jim Bowden has agreed to a contract to succeed Bowden as head coach.
