HONOLULU (AP) - Former Hawai'i coach June Jones is hoping his new
team can return to the islands for the Hawaii Bowl.
Southern Methodist University is already bowl-eligible with a 6-4 record, and they could end up facing Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl.
But the 4-6 Hawai'i team must win their three remaining games to be the Western Athletic Conference's representative in their home bowl game.
Hawai'i faces San Jose State (1-8), Navy (8-3) and Wisconsin (8-2) in the team's final three gams.
Hawaii Bowl Executive Director David Matlin says if a Dec. 24 Hawai'i-SMU matchup comes to pass, "I won't need a Christmas present."
