KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - The world's fastest man has been
honored in his Caribbean homeland.

Sprint star Usain Bolt was appointed an ambassador-at-large by
Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding during a ceremony Thursday.

Bolt was also granted a diplomatic passport.

At 23, Bolt is the youngest person to receive the honors.

Last month, he received the Order of Jamaica award, and a highway has been renamed after the lanky Olympic and world 100 and 200-meter champion and record-holder.

Bolt said he will try his best "to live up to the high expectations."

He ran 9.58 seconds in the 100 meters at the world championships in Berlin in August. He ran 19.19 in the 200, breaking the records he set at the Beijing Olympics.
