Pack Golfer Smith Named WAC Golfer Of Month

DENVER – Nevada’s Scott Smith and San Jose State’s Cristina Corpus have been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for November.

Smith, a junior from Fallon, Nev. (Churchill County HS), finished seventh at the Saint Mary’s Invitational played at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif. last week to help lead Nevada to the team title. Smith shot an even-par 216 (76-72-68). His final round 68 was the lowest of the day. It was his fourth top-15 finish in the five tournaments that the Wolf Pack played in the fall.

Corpus, a senior from San Leandro, Calif. (San Leandro HS), tied for second place at the Turtle Bay Collegiate Invitational in Laei, Hawaii, Nov. 2-4. Corpus shot a 3-under par 213 (68-71-74) to finish under par for the first time in her collegiate career. She finished the fall season with a 74.50 scoring average, the fourth best in the WAC.
