PHOENIX -- Former Wolf Pack infielder Lyle Overbay could be headed back to the organization that drafted him.

The Diamondbacks and Blue Jays are 'making progress' on a deal that would send Overbay to Arizona in exchange for catcher Chris Snyder, according to MLB.com.

Arizona drafted Overbay in the 18th round of the 1999 First-Year Player draft. The Nevada alum played for the Diamondbacks from 2001-2003 before being traded to the Brewers in a trade that included Richie Sexson.

Last season, Overbay hit .265 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs in 132 games.

Reports indicate Overbay would serve as the regular first baseman in Arizona until former Aces slugger Brandon Allen is ready to assume that role.
