ESPN is reporting that Danica Patrick will sign a two-year contract to race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Patrick will race for JR Motorsports, a team owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Representatives for both Patrick and Earnhardt declined comment.
The deal should be completed within the next week. Patrick is also expected to drive in at least 12 Nationwide races in the 2010 season.
Patrick is also under negotiations to drive the No. 7 number that she used during her IndyCar career. GoDaddy.com, her main sponsor in the IRL, is expected to be the primary sponsor for the car.
Patrick was the 2005 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year. She also became the first woman to win an IndyCar Series race
Patrick will continue to race full-time for Andretti Green Racing in IndyCar.
