SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Former San Francisco 49ers star Dana Stubblefield is taking a break from coaching at a high school amid allegations that he harassed and threatened his ex-fiancee.
Stubblefield has been the defensive line coach at San Jose's Valley Christian High School for the past four years.
Principal Clifford Daugherty sent a letter to parents Sunday saying Stubblefield has "stepped away from his duties" at Valley Christian in light of recent allegations. Daugherty didn't say if or when the coach would return.
Melanie Wade has filed for a restraining order against her former beau, who she says has repeatedly harassed her over the past year. She says in court papers that he once knocked her off a bicycle with his truck.
Dan Nicholson, attorney for the three-time Pro Bowl player, has denied Wade's claims.
