Nevada Post-Game Notes
With this win, Nevada…
‐ Evens its record at 3‐3 on the season and improves to 105‐92 as an FBS school and 485‐432‐33
in its history (103rd season)
‐ Coach Chris Ault improves to 201‐94‐1 in his 25‐year career.
2,000‐YARD CLUB: With a 67‐yard run in the first half, Vai Taua went over the 2,000‐yard mark for his
career at Nevada. Taua is the 12th player in Nevada history to rush for 2,000 yards in a career and he is
the third Nevada player – joining Luke Lippincott and Colin Kaepernick – to move past the 2,000‐yard
mark this season. This is only the second time in history that one team has had three players hit the
2,000‐yard mark in the same season (Nebraska, 2000 – Correll Buckhalter, Eric Crouch, Dan Alexander).
GREEN SCORES AGAIN: Junior tight end Virgil Green caught a 44‐yard touchdown pass in the first half
from Colin Kaepernick. That marks three straight games with a TD for Green and the 44‐yard reception is
the longest of his career.
TAUA; LUKE OVER 100: Junior running back Vai Taua topped the 100‐yard mark for the 11th time in his
career on Saturday and senior Luke Lippincott joined him on a 69‐yard TD run. This is 13th time in
Lippincott’s career that he’s topped 100.
The nation’s top rushing attack ran for 313 yards on the ground and 502 yards overall.
KAEPERNICK PASSES VARGAS: With a 21‐yard run in the second quarter, Colin Kaepernick moved into
fifth‐place all‐time in total offense. Vargas tallied 8,181 yards in his Hall of Fame career. Kaepernick
entered the game 130 yards shy of that mark.
LIPPINCOTT JOINS KAP: With a 10‐yard TD reception in the second quarter, Luke Lippincott joined Colin
Kaepernick in an exclusive club. Lippincott has rushed for a TD, thrown for a TD and caught a TD pass
this season. Kaepernick and Colorado State’s Grant Stucker are believed to be the only other players in
the country who have done that this season.
NEW TACKLES: Sophomore Steve Haley and junior Jose Acuna both made their first career starts on the
offensive line for Nevada. Haley started in place of Mike Gallett (junior) while Acuna started on the
other side in place of Alonzo Durham (injury).
STREAKS: Senior tackle Alonzo Durham (injury) saw his team‐high 32‐game starting streak come to an
end. The longest streak on the team now belongs to safety Jonathon Amaya, who made his 23rd‐straight
start on Saturday.
UP NEXT: Nevada will return home for two more games. The Wolf Pack will host Idaho on Oct. 24 at 1:05
ET CETERA: Nevada won the toss and deferred to the second half. Utah State received the opening
kickoff and Nevada defended the North … Brad Langley booted a 58‐yard punt in the first half, which is
the longest of the season for the junior … Colin Kaepernick moved past Jeff Tisdel and into seventh place
all‐time at Nevada … Kaepernick also moved into 8th place all‐time in passing yards (passing Tisdel who
had 6,098 yards). Kaepernick entered the game with 5,944 career yards … Luke Lippincott passed B.J.
Mitchell in career rushing yards.
