RENO, Nev. — The Reno Aces will open the 2010 season at home on April 8, and will play host to a Fourth of July match-up versus the Sacramento River Cats and a total of 30 weekend games, the ballclub announced Wednesday.
The Aces’ 72-game home slate again includes regional rivals Sacramento and the Fresno Grizzlies, as well as eight games at Aces Ballpark versus the Las Vegas 51s in the resumption of the ever-popular Silver State Diamond Challenge.
Additionally, Aces Ballpark will play host to the Omaha Royals, Iowa Cubs, Nashville Sounds and Memphis Redbirds for the first time in 2010.
Game times will be made available after baseball’s annual Winter Meetings, which are set to take place in Indianapolis, Ind., this December. The Aces’ 2010 promotional schedule also will be released in the coming months, with fireworks, giveaways and appearances once again on deck.
In 2009, Aces Ballpark drew 466,606 fans, an average of 6,481 fans per game. In their inaugural season, the Aces finished the 2009 season with the third-best record in the Pacific Coast League at 79-64. A total of 25 Aces appeared in the Major Leagues last season, and seven players made their Major League debut.
