BOSTON (AP) - Umpires working the series between the Red Sox and Angels at Fenway Park are complaining that they were verbally abused by the Los Angeles coaches after Wednesday night's controversial ending.
Plate umpire Rick Reed told the Boston Herald that Major League Baseball officials had been notified. The Los Angeles Times also reported that MLB was looking into it.
The umpires declined to comment before Thursday night's game. A Fenway security guard who knocked on the door said they were on a conference call with the commissioner's office.
Mike Port, baseball's vice president for umpires, did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Umpire's union spokesman Lamell McMorris also could not be reached.
Angels spokesman Tim Mead said the team had "moved on."
