CHICAGO (AP) - Outfielder Alfonso Soriano has been put on the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago Cubs after season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Soriano hit .241 with 20 homers and 55 RBIs - his lowest home-runs total since 2001.
Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Tuesday he expects Soriano to be ready for spring training. Soriano will rejoin the Cubs in Milwaukee this weekend and will travel with the club to San Francisco next week as he receives treatment.
During the offseason, Soriano undergo rehabilitation at the Cubs Dominican Republic academy.
