TORONTO (AP) - Trainer Steve Asmussen has won the 5,000th race of his career.
He reached the milestone at Woodbine when Passion Rules won the seventh race, one of 14 scheduled starters at five different tracks on Friday for the Texas-born trainer.
Asmussen, who trains Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra, is the fifth trainer to reach 5,000 wins.
Dale Baird has 9,445 victories, followed by Jack Van Berg, King Leatherbury and Jerry Hollendorfer.
