SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame fullback James Aldridge will miss Saturday's game against Michigan with a sprained right shoulder.

Coach Charlie Weis said Aldridge will be questionable to doubtful for the following week's game against Michigan State. Aldridge was injured in the second half last week as the 18th-ranked Irish beat Nevada 35-0. Aldridge had three carries for 13 yards.

Tailback Robert Hughes will start at fullback. Weis said the 5-foot-11, 234-pound Hughes has worked some at fullback in practice. Hughes had six carries for 20 yards against Nevada.

Aldridge is also a starting kickoff returner for the Irish. Weis said senior Barry Gallup Jr. will get the first chance to replace Aldridge, but others may also play.
